L'angelique and Elliot‘s Wedding Film
L'angelique & Elliot were married in early February at Haldon Station in the beautiful Mackenzie Basin. I was there filming for the day capturing all the excitement. Check out L'angelique & Elliot‘s Wedding Film just below… or their Highlights video at the end of the blog.
For the Wedding Film service I film throughout the day capturing all the big beautiful moments as well as the small simple moments that making a wedding day so special. I focus on staying out of way so that the moments I capture can be an honest reflection of the wedding day as it was.
Afterwards I carefully review everything I have shot and look for the moments that I will be able to use to tell the story of the day. I use four songs to tell the story in four distinct parts. In the film this lets different sections of the day have their own vibe. It also gives me the right amount of time to tell the whole story in glorious detail.
It was a very relaxed morning. L'angelique got ready with her friends while Elliot attended to various last minute preparations. Elliot was hard to pin down and possibly even a touch camera shy but he kept me updated with many 👍 👍 👍 throughout the morning. 😊 These made for some entertaining interludes throughout the first section of the film. Elliot and L'angelique‘s parents were both there throughout the morning. One of my favourite shots from the whole day was when their mothers worked side by side at the kitchen bench preparing aspects of their respective cultural traditions.
First there was a small Ceremony to sign the Ketubah, this was when Elliot and L'angelique first saw each other. It was heaps of fun with lots of clapping, singing and dancing. Then Elliot and L'angelique‘s friend (who happened to be a registered celebrant), quickly ran through the New Zealand legal requirements for marriage. They signed the register and then we headed up the road and around the corner where the remaining guests were waiting for the full wedding ceremony to begin. Elliot and his extended family walked over and made a grand entrance. L'angelique walked down the aisle and soon enough we were into the thick of a fabulous traditional Jewish wedding. it was a lot of fun to capture.
Right at the end of the Ceremony a spot of rain started coming down but moments later we were in the clear. Then it was all hugs, kisses and drinks. The light at this point was just beautiful. I wandered around and captured some of the many friendly faces that were enjoying the day. Including one beautiful dog. 🐶
Elliot, L'angelique, Kate and I jumped in the car and headed up the road to get some quick bridal portraits before returning to the epic Marquee for a grand entrance. This lead us on to some A M A Z I N G jewish dancing.
Honestly, the stills here just don’t do it justice. You have to watch it in motion and in the context of L'angelique and Elliot’s full Wedding Film. It was epic fun to shoot. So much was happening so quickly half the time I had no idea if what I was capturing was in focus or if I was managing to capture enough of everything. Thankfully I was spoilt for great shots to include when it came time to put the film together. My initial edit of this section was easily three times longer than it ended up being. I had to really pare it down to just the very best, most essential shots to keep it in line with the pace of the rest of the film. We were all gasping for breath and ready to sit down (lucky for some) afterwards. Thankfully there were cold towels for everyone!!
We Ate, Drank, listened to some fabulous speeches, enjoyed a beautiful Hul from L'angelique‘s cousin. Finally Elliot and L'angelique cut their cake and tore up the dance floor with their first dance.
It was an amazing and truly unique day that I was privileged to capture. It was equally delightful to relive the day over and over as I carefully edited the Wedding Film. Watch that version at the top of the blog or the Highlights version just below.
