Lauren & Alex's Wedding in Featherston
“Rowan is fantastic! A genuinely kind human who made us feel so at ease on our big day. He captured our day beautifully, and we are amazed at how quickly he can turn everything around - absolutely phenomenal!”
We also made this short version to share on instagram
Lauren and Alex were married in Featherston at Lauren’s parents’ home in mid January, taking full advantage of the long summer evenings and the easy pace of the Wairarapa. The day blended plenty of hands on effort from family with the support of experienced local vendors, creating a celebration that felt personal, relaxed and carefully considered.
The reception space was styled with a marquee and hire furniture from FestivalHire Masterton. The welcome sign and seating chart were created by Hello Studio, with Lauren taking care of the remaining stationery and details Hair was by Turret Salon & Spa and makeup by Alluminus Beauty Therapy. Lauren wore a gown by Trish Peng, Alex’s suit was from Dorset Suits, and fragrance details were from Miller Road.
Florals were a shared effort. Barnhouse Blooms created Lauren’s bouquet and the men’s buttonholes, while Lauren and her mum arranged the remaining flowers and bridesmaid bouquets themselves. Catering was by Simply Food, music was handled by The Wedding Crashers, and the ceremony was led by Jody McCartney. Guest transport between Martinborough and Featherston was organised through Green Jersey Explorer Tours.

Lauren and Alex’s mid January wedding in Featherston was a reminder of how meaningful a celebration can be when it is held at home, surrounded by family, friends and the place that shaped you. Set at Lauren’s parents’ property in the Wairarapa, their ceremony unfolded beneath the trees, followed by a marquee reception filled with long tables, local food and plenty of laughter.
From heartfelt vows and a reading of The One to speeches that balanced humour with genuine emotion, the day was grounded in family. Their son Arthur Wayne was part of the story from start to finish, and there was a strong sense of legacy, connection and looking ahead. It was relaxed, personal and deeply considered without ever feeling overdone.
For couples planning a wedding in Featherston, Martinborough or wider Wairarapa, this day shows how well a private property wedding can work with the right marquee setup, experienced local suppliers and a clear vision. A summer garden ceremony paired with an outdoor reception offers beautiful natural light, open space and flexibility to shape the day around what matters most.
