Candace and Josh's Wedding at Lakeside Soldiers Memorial Hall in Canterbury

Rowan was genuinely one of our favourite parts of our wedding experience. From our very first conversation right through to receiving the final videos, he made everything feel completely stress-free. No request was ever too big or too small, and he went above and beyond to make sure our day ran smoothly.

He wasn’t just our videographer and photographer, he helped with timing, offered thoughtful suggestions to support the flow of the day, and made us feel so important and cared for from start to finish. Our initial get to know us Skype video calls with him felt like chatting to a friend, and our belated engagement shoot was such a fun and relaxed way to get to know his style.

On our wedding day, Rowan somehow managed to capture the most special, emotional, and candid moments without us even realising he was there. Watching the videos back, we were blown away by how beautifully he told our story, every shot feels personal and full of heart.

We can’t recommend Rowan enough to anyone looking for a wedding videographer or photographer who truly cares about his couples and delivers magic every single time.

Thank you Rowan!

Late March at the Lakeside Soldiers Memorial Hall was a fitting setting for Candace and Josh to get married, relaxed, warm, and full of familiar faces. Friends and family gathered in close, and the day felt more like a big get-together than something stiff or formal.

Their ceremony kept things light and personal, with plenty of laughter mixed in with the meaningful moments. It was the kind of wedding where people were asked to be present, enjoy it properly, and focus on the couple in front of them.

From there, everyone settled into the reception for speeches, good food, and the start of a long night of celebrating.

that morning

One of the wishes for today was that it not be so serious. So we all can just loosen up a little, enjoy ourselves, have a little laugh, and celebrate these two, tying the knot.

Their first real conversation happened at the bog, from what I’m told, a legendary spot for love stories and questionable dance moves.

Josh, ever the gentleman asked Candace to dance, got her a drink and rather than accept her invitation to continue, he ensured she got home safely with a mutual friend. That thoughtful move sparked her interest.

Who was this confident yet considerate guy? As for Josh, he quickly realised Candace was no ordinary girl. She made the first move by asking if he was ever gonna ask for her number, a bold strategy that paid off.

But what truly sealed the deal?

The moment Candace backed the boat in, almost as well as Josh could. That was it, true love.”
— Caleb Scott, Celebrant
Candace, I choose you to be my best friend for life. I love you and the person you are and are becoming. The drive you have to improving yourself and growing a relationship day to day is admirable and makes me love you more and more each day.
— Josh, Groom
You accept me completely, ADHD and all and love me the way that makes me truly feel seen. For this, I absolutely love you and adore you. We have grown together, pushing each other to be our best.
— Candace, Bride
You bring the organisation to my unorganised life, tidiness to my messiness and friendship to my loneliness. There’s no one else I would rather be up here today with by my side, ready to attack all life throws at us.
— Josh, Groom
Josh, I choose you to be my best friend for life, to laugh with, to go on ventures together and to grow old with one another. Your kindness, humour and unwavering support makes me a better person every day.
— Candace, Bride
These three core elements, togetherness, commitment, and growth, are the framework of a strong marriage. And they are evident in Josh and Candace’s love
— Caleb Scott, Celebrant
“I’m here to talk to you about someone truly special, someone who is caring, kind, attractive, witty yet humble and someone people can lean on. Enough about me, it’s about Josh and Candace.”
— Wayne, Josh’s Father
My first memory of Josh was when he turned up to support Candice at a dragon boating regatta out in Akaroa. He turned up on his motorcycle and I thought, oh, Candice has got herself a biker boy.
— Caroline, Candace's Maid of Honour
“Candice, you’re stunning. You’ve been the best daughter you could ever ask for. And you’re marrying a very nice family and a man.”
— Barry, Candace's Father
But today was just special. Candice, you look lovely, you look beautiful. And going forward, I just hope you have a long and healthy relationship and marriage.
— Jeff, Candace's Step-father & Josh's Boss
Looking at Josh and Candice today, I couldn’t be more proud of them. They both look absolutely incredible today. The love they share is vibrant and they complement each other beautifully.
— JT, Josh's Bestman
As we start this new journey through life as husband and wife and if you didn’t know as we become parents to our baby born in October!!!
— Josh, Groom
May the road ahead be bright, filled with adventure, laughter and unwavering love.
— Caleb, Celebrant

shortly after the wedding day, before starting on the full length film, I made this preview video celebrating the wedding ceremony:

Here’s what Candace and Josh had to say after receiving their preview video and some photos

Thank you so much!!! The video and photos are brilliant. We love it so much!!!

Candace and Josh’s late March wedding at the Lakeside Soldiers Memorial Hall was the kind of day that feels easy to relive. A relaxed ceremony, a room full of people who clearly love them, and a reception that rolled straight into great speeches, good food, and a proper celebration. It was a Springston wedding day built around being present, having a laugh, and backing each other for the long haul, exactly the way these two do life.

If you are planning a Canterbury wedding and want your day captured in a natural, story-led way, I would love to help. I film and photograph weddings with a focus on real moments, clear audio for vows and speeches, and coverage that lets you enjoy the day without feeling staged.
